Terms of Use
Last updated: 9 October 2026
These terms set out the rules for using the worldmap.tech website and app (the "Site"). The Site is run by Kemal Ersun Gülbaş, a private individual living in Türkiye. In these terms, "we" means the operator and "you" means the person using the Site.
By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. Information about your personal data is not part of these terms; it is in our separate Privacy Policy.
1. The service
The Site is free. It lets you tap the countries you have visited on a world map and see a count, a "world %" and a traveller level. It also lets you create a share image with an optional QR code. No account is needed.
The Site is kept free by advertising. Ads never appear on the map or in the exported image.
2. Acceptable use
You may use the Site only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Try to guess restore codes or access other people's records.
- Send automated requests that overload the Site, try to get around its security, or otherwise disrupt it.
- Use the Site or the images you create in a way that is unlawful, misleading or infringes anyone's rights.
- Copy all or a substantial part of the Site and offer it as your own service.
- Click ads fraudulently or encourage others to do so.
If these rules are broken, we may restrict access or delete the related record.
3. Restore codes
- The restore code is optional. It exists only to move your map to another device.
- Anyone who has the code can view, change or delete your map. Keeping it private is your responsibility.
- We cannot recover a lost code.
- Records unused for 24 months are deleted automatically.
- The restore feature is not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything important.
4. What you share
Share links, images and QR codes are created on your device from your own selections. You decide what to share and where. You are responsible for what you share and how you use it.
A share image reflects your own selections. It does not prove that you travelled anywhere and is not an official document.
5. Map, borders and names
Borders and names on the map follow the official positions of the Republic of Türkiye. For example:
- The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) is shown as a separate country.
- Crimea is shown in Ukraine, the Golan in Syria, Western Sahara in Morocco and Somaliland in Somalia.
- Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are shown separately.
- Siachen is shown as neutral.
Showing them this way is not a statement about any border, territorial or sovereignty dispute. It does not mean we take sides or recognise any state. The map is approximate, small-scale and simplified. It is not an official, legal or navigational document.
Map data comes from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain.
6. Disclaimer
This section applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Provided "as is"
The Site and all its content are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". We give no warranty of any kind, express or implied, that the Site is accurate, complete, up to date, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for any particular purpose.
Accuracy of information
- Country names, borders, flags, country counts, the "world %" and traveller levels are for information and fun. They may contain errors or omissions.
- The world % is calculated from the list of countries and territories the Site uses. Other lists, such as UN membership, give different results.
- A traveller level is not an official title, certificate or achievement.
- The Site does not give travel, visa, health, safety, legal or political advice. Do not base travel decisions on the Site. Check official sources.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. This includes in particular:
- Indirect or consequential loss.
- Loss of profit, revenue, reputation or opportunity.
- Loss of data, for example your selections disappearing when your browser's storage is cleared.
- Loss caused by slight negligence.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for:
- Intent or gross negligence.
- Death or personal injury.
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
- The mandatory statutory rights of consumers.
Third-party ads and links
Ads are served by Google and its partners. We do not choose or review their content. Showing an ad does not mean we endorse the advertiser or the product.
Any dealings you have with advertisers or linked websites are solely between you and them. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. If you see a misleading or inappropriate ad, please tell us.
Content created by users
We do not check links or images that users create and share. The person who creates and shares them is responsible for them.
Availability and changes
We try to keep the Site running, but we do not guarantee it. The Site may be unavailable at times because of maintenance, technical faults, problems at our service providers or other reasons.
We may change features, remove any feature (including restore codes) or close the Site. Where possible, we will announce important changes that affect stored data on the Site in advance.
Security
We take reasonable security measures, but no system is completely secure. You are responsible for the security of your own device and browser.
7. Intellectual property
The rights in the Site's design, texts, logo and our own code belong to the operator (Kemal Ersun Gülbaş) and are protected by law. Open-source components are covered by their own licences.
You may freely share the images you create with the Site for personal purposes. We ask that you keep the "worldmap.tech" mark on them.

9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the Site or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top. We announce important changes on the Site.
Changes apply to use after they are published. They do not apply retroactively. If you do not accept the new terms, you can stop using the Site and delete your restore record.
10. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. To the extent permitted by law, the courts and enforcement offices of Ankara have jurisdiction over disputes.
This does not take away any rights consumers have by law. Consumers in Türkiye may apply to consumer arbitration committees within their monetary limits, or to the consumer courts where they live.
If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country and the right to use the courts those laws give you.
11. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in force. The invalid provision will be applied as closely to its intent as the law allows.
Content provider information under Turkish Law No. 5651:
Send errors, comments about borders or names, notices of rights infringement, or complaints about misleading ads to this address. We review notices within a reasonable time and make the corrections needed.
These terms are also available in Turkish. If the two versions differ, the Turkish version prevails.
